The Get Paid for Grades program has experienced exponential growth over the last few years, and the 2017 school year promises to be even more fruitful.
The program’s recent success drew the attention of an education expert at Tampa Bay Times, and the region’s leading publication chose to feature Get Paid for Grades in a front-page story on Monday, December 26, 2016.
Recognizing Outstanding Student Achievement
Tampa Bay Times reporter Colleen Wright covers news pertaining to Pinellas County schools. Wright sat down for a 45-minute interview with Get Paid for Grades founder, Monica Eaton-Cardone, and program manager, Sandra Gray.
Wright was interested in highlighting the impressive accomplishments achieved by students at Clearwater High School last spring. Of the 23 students who initially expressed interest in the program, 74% successfully met all program requirements—meaning they improved their GPA, improved their reading level, improved their attendance record, and attended 12 life-skills workshops.
The Tampa Bay Times article also recognized the impressive growth of the program. Enrollment for the spring 2017 Get Paid for Grades session has increased 643% over 2016’s numbers, and students in three additional schools are set to participate.
In the end, the most noteworthy news is the students’ improved confidence and realized self-worth. Michael Glasco, a 2016 participant, remarked: “It kind of gave me an outlook on things you really don’t think of. … And why you should apply yourself to do certain things in life.”
Get Paid for Grades founder, Monica Eaton-Cardone, added, “Students become more interested in investing in themselves because you’re showing them they have potential.”
